Mine was a flower maze, if you step out of line or hit a dead end one of the flowers (read: Bellsprout, Sunflora, Ivysaur, etc.) would jump up and attack.

Err, you had the spiderweb idea too? Mine was basically the same thing, except all of the Spinarak/Ariados were asleep and you had to cross silently.

My ideas seem a little simple in comparison. My grass gym puzzle was some kind of riddle (I forget the specifics), to be able to open the door to the leader.

The canyon thing was better than the gym IMO. The trainer had to battle some nearby Rock types and Fighting types to convince them to assist in building a bridge out of nearby components (trees, vines etc.), while being unable to actually catch the Pokémon. My idea was that these 'mon would be somewhat tame, living in a kind of nature reserve. Kinda like gatekeepers, I guess.

I made something similar to a maze for the grass gym question. You have to go around and find two of the gym leaders sisters, whom are completely identical, while they're hiding in this forest inside the gym. When you find them, you have to guess their name. The key to telling them apart is their distinct perfume. Guessing wrong forces you into a one-on-one Pokebattle, whereas guessing right allows you to immediately exit the forest and challenge the gym leader.

Still working on the canyon question, plus perfecting all the others.

So I was watching the first Pokémon Best Wishes episode. I can't find it subbed yet so I was watching it as it was, and I hear Oak mention Johto. Suddenly I jump up and think "WHAT!? Johto!? WHAT ABOUT Johto?!" And Ash starts freaking out too.

I wish I spoke Japanese.

I enjoyed it, right up until the point reality set in and I remembered I'd have to send it to Gary to see how good it was. Then I got nervous. Then I just said "fuck it", and ignored that part and just wrote for the fun of it.

Ash is eternally 10 years old, despite the fact the anime has claimed he ages.

Proof: I think each region he passes through (excluding the Orange Islands and Battle Frontier) is meant to be 1 year, so he'd be 14. The fact Araragi is that tall compared to Ash just shows that he doesn't age. That and his mother is rather short.
