Sal watched as Goku lost another match-up, this time to another simian. He saw the narrower path ahead, and realised this meant the peak of the hill was close. With his Chimchar now likely to face multiple opponents, Sal changed his orders accordingly.

"Ok Goku, we'll probably be facing more Pokémon now, so Growl to throw your opponents off, then fire an Ember at the opponent most vulnerable to Fire attacks! Let's finish with a bang."

Richard sighed. He knew that Boulder had tried its best so far, but he wanted so much more out of his companion. "Right then. We can still win this. I know it. Go for a double tackle! This is vital." He held his breath. It would end soon.

Kaito was happy to see that Nezumi wasn't getting destroyed anymore. Though as the path began to narrow it was clear that they weren't going to win this.

"Nezumi, you're doing spectacular! Same orders, Thundershock then Bite!"

No matter the outcome, at this point Kaito was just glad to see Nezumi starting to make a bit of a come back.

Kin watched in surprise as Dia went yet another round without coming into contact with anyone. Noticing the shrinking path, Kin realized that things could get ugly. "Err... Dia, Foresight whoever you come up against. Then hit them with Spark.

DM shouts to his surprisingly sucessful Mankey...

Happy at his Cyndaquil's seeming tie, Will didn't seem too offput as the path narrowed but he did adjust his strategy for it. Not able to judge what his opponents would be was starting to be a bother. He could screw up the others, though...

"Chili, Flame Wheel whichever is a better target for Fire attacks, then Smokescreen!"

The sight of the narrowing path, and the probability that Yuki was likely to be encountering more than a single opponent this round, caused Joshua to pause for a moment in thought.

"Yuki! Double Team as our opening move, then blast whoever comes at you with a Powder Snow!" the trainer cried out, reasoning that it was the most logical course of action for this endeavour. Yuki was doing fairly well for himself despite the first round mishap, and Joshua was confident the Snorunt would continue to do well.

Gligar got a reprieve in the battle he found as he made his way up the hill.

His encounter was with that of a Mudkip belonging to a trainer named Gale. Although the fight was tough, to Yougi the fight seemed to swing in their favour when the first attack landed.

Gligar opened by Biting into the opposing Mudkip before being tackled away as it fought to stand it's ground. Both Pokémon retaliated quickly, dashing in for a Poison Sting from Gligar that was particularly effective with it's venom. But Mudkip tackled it back as the poison flooded into it's system. This gave Gligar a healthy edge, allowing him to gain pace on the race back up the hill.

With the final stretch in sight, it was obvious that the Pokémon aiming to reach the top would meet in larger groups now and although Yougi wanted to meet Mudkip again due to it's poison, he had to plan accordingly with the chance of meeting 3 Pokémon or more being guaranteed. Instead of going full offensive like he had been doing recently, he decided to take another approach and in doing so he hoped he wouldn't meet with the Snorunt again.

"Gligar, keep your wits about you." Yougi called out to his Pokémon, hoping to ensure he was aware of how volatile the last section would be. "I want you to act as we did at the start of this race now. Start by whipping up a Sand Attack for cover, then Bite the healthiest looking Pokémon you meet." He just hoped that the cloud of sand would provide him with the protection he needed for a good result.

Marion's Nincada was still a good way near the end of the pack, and Marion prayed some miracle would happen that would aid his Pokémon. As the sprinters were converging on the top of the hill, the battles would surely intensify.

"Harden against any attacks that come your way," Marion shouted up the hill, "then use Scratch on whichever Pokémon is closest!"

Gale sighed at the outcome of his battle and decided to change things up a little bit.

"Okay Mudkip, you just came off a really bad round and your poisoned, keep your distance from the other combatants. Try to look as if you're not going to harm then, let them attack each other then once they have finished use one Tackle on each of them then continue on."

[Sep. 2010 Event] Revolution Scramble! - Page 4 Empty Re: [Sep. 2010 Event] Revolution Scramble!

Post by Gary Sun Oct 03, 2010 6:09 pm

(Things are about to get very complicated here, as I've never reffed a 3-4 Pokémon free for all battle before. Please go easy on me with the criticisms! I RNG'd everything twice for everyone, not even just myself this time, so please don't kill me if you don't like a reffing. :[)

As our event begins to come to a close, all of the Pokémon near the top, where the path narrows. Scrambling for room to move onward, the Pokémon find the nearest few close to them and begin to fight to position themselves in the lead. They result in four different matchups, between three to four Pokémon, and the trainers anxiously order their commands.

The first matchup is the big one, the four 'mon brawl between Marion's Nincada, DM's Mankey, Gary's Mudkip, Takumi, and Yougi's Gligar. Three of the four Pokémon start things off defensively, Takumi creating 3 Double Team clones, Nincada Hardening her exoskeleton, and Gligar shrouding himself in a dust cloud from Sand Attack. Deciding to go for the least-resistant opponent, Mankey charges at Takumi for a Low Kick, but manages to only take out a clone. Seeing the opponent charge him, Takumi knocks Mankey back with a Water Pulse. With Gligar now as the closest Pokémon, Nincada attempts to Scratch him, but cannot find the flyscorpion in the dust cloud. Noticing that the two Pokémon weakest to rock attacks are in close proximity of each other now, Mankey launches a Rock Slide in Gligar and Nincada's direction, knocking them both for good damage. Luckily Nincada's Hardened shell protected her from some of the blow. Getting back up, Gligar looked around for the healthiest opponent, and then charged at Takumi baring his fangs, but only to Bite down on a clone. At the end of the round, Takumi came out first by taking no hits and damaging one, followed by Mankey who took one hit from Takumi but damaged two. After that is Nincada in third, who hit no one but received less damage than Gligar, who hit no one.

Next up, we have a matchup between Joshua's Snorunt, Yuki, Gale's Mudkip, and Richard's Geodude, Boulder. Yuki quickly started things off by using Double Team to create three clones. Boulder then came flying in for a Tackle, somehow managing to find the real Yuki out of the four targets. Yuki then blew a Powder Snow at the two opponents, dealing some good damage to both of them, but more-so Boulder than Mudkip. Boulder then charged for a second Tackle, this time on Mudkip, knocking him back. Getting up, Mudkip ran in for a quick Tackle on both Yuki and Boulder, dealing less damage on the rock Pokémon. Seeing as all Pokémon hit both opponents while getting hit by both opponents, the three-way tie will go in order of best damage given-to-damage received ratio. In first is Yuki, who dealt the most damage, followed by Boulder, followed by Mudkip, who dealt the least damage.

The next matchup features a battle between Kaito's Pikachu, Nezumi, Tobias's Swablu, Cotton, and Sal's Chimchar, Goku. Cotton starts things off, swooping in for a quick Peck on Goku, but the Chimchar Growls loudly before impact to startle Cotton a little and reduce the damage taken. Nezumi then springs into action, targeting the flying type Pokémon with a Thundershock, knocking Cotton out of the air. Goku then targets Nezumi for a fiery Ember attack, who charges in for a Bite in retaliation. Cotton then finishes off the round with a Peck attack on Nezumi. Nezumi emerges from this battle on top, having dealt the most damage, followed by Goku and then Cotton, who dealt the least damage.

Finally, our last matchup features Will's Cyndaquil, Chili, Dave's Turtwig, A'Tuin, and Kin's Sentret, Dia. A'Tuin quickly starts things off by attacking Dia to Absorb some of her health to make himself feel much better. This was greatly needed, as Chili coats himself in fire and charges at A'Tuin with a powerful Flame Wheel. Enraged by the attack, A'Tuin exacts his Revenge on Chili, knocking the Cyndaquil back. Chili goes to protect himself with a Smokescreen, but by now, Dia had already locked on to her opponents with Foresight and charged in at Chili for a Spark attack, leaving a bit of a numbness on the Cyndaquil. Despite taking a lot of damage, A'Tuin emerges from the round in first place, having also dealt the most damage, followed by Dia, who took the least damage, and then Chili, who couldn't score a lucky break.

And there you have it, folks. As the Pokémon arrive at the top of the hill, the scoreboard begins to update with a final look at the standings.

I enjoyed designing and updating this event in particular, so you may see something of a similar format in the future. If you have any comments or suggestions for the future, feel free to let me know! And that is all, until next time!

Nezumi came running from atop the hill down to Kaito before launching herself in his arms. He caught her with ease as she snuggled in against his chest and closed her eyes, clearly exhausted yet grinning all the same.

"Haha! Hey, good job Nezumi! You did great! Sure, we didn't win but you fought your hardest. Plus you gave my rival's 'mon a pretty good zap! Poor Swablu, I bet that super effective attack really fried him up good." Kaito said, giggling a bit with delight as he looked over at his rival. He patted Nezumi on the head while he walked over to claim her prize. He beamed with delight knowing that Nezumi was content with herself and the effort she put in.

It was a good day.

A'Tuin resolutely made his way back to Dave, who smiled down at him, leaning down to pat his shell. "Great work out there, buddy. You really gave it your all, I'm so proud of you. Let's get back to our journey now, shall we?" The Turtwig nodded, while Dave accepted several berries that would no doubt prove useful to him, along with a ribbon commemorating A'Tuin's achievements.

Goku returned to his trainer, with a rather disappointed look on his face.

"Hey, so we didn't win. You did your best, and that's awesome. And plus, we got a great prize," he said, looking at the Egg Voucher in his hand and petting the Fire type, before taking the Chimchar's Ribbon and the voucher and leaving the arena.

DM sighs as Mankey trundles across the finish line, with a solid finish, in second place overall. Picking up his tired Pokémon, he walks to the trophy case, and picks up Mankey's medal and the consolatory TM.

"Well Mankey, that was a great job! Tough luck on that last bit, but you did great overall, and I'm very proud of you."

Kin smiled as he picked up Dia. "Well, we may not of won, but we did pretty good. Great job, Dia." he told Dia as he returned her to her PokéBall. He then stepped forward to pick up he and Dia's consolation prize- and immediatly began studying the Lum and Payapa berries.

As a tired and battered Gligar made his way over to Yougi, he bent down. He'd intended to grab his pokémon as it was close enough, but just out of his grasp the Pokémon started admiring it's shell. With a smile, Yougi knew that the experience from the event has allowed Gligar to learn Harden. As he picked up his Pokémon as he was close, he helped Gligar get perched atop of his head while they went to collect the prizes.

He consoled his Pokémon, and suggested to it that most of their problems were just unfortunate luck. Which is what he believed as well, with that many Pokémon all fighting for top spot you needed a lot of luck to come out on top.

As Yougi reached to counter to collect his ribbon and reward for Gligar, he was dumbfounded somewhat as he looked at the ticket by his profile.
"100!?" he said in surprise, knowing that there was only 100 tickets in the draw.
He expected something big, but as he was passed Gligars ribbon with congratulations and complements on how hard Gligar competed the prize he obtained was a slip of paper.

He skulked off to the nearest wall to check out the slip he'd been given and nearly slipped down the wall in surprise yet again.
"Entitlement to receive one special Pokémon Egg." He read out to himself and Gligar, "Collect at a Pokémart at your earliest conveniece. Looks like we lucked out." He chuckled to Gligar as he shuffled to the exit, pokéball in hand ready to return Gligar.

Tobias cheered for Cotton as she finished third place, followed immediately by a Snorunt. The Swablu promptly flew over to Tobias and landed on his head, ecstatic at her finish.

"Great job, Cotton, you did great! Did you have fun?" The tired cotton bird chirped in the affirmative, and began preening herself while the pair walked over to the counter to collect their prize.

The receptionist gladly handed them their berries, and Tobias politely thanked her. "Ok, Cotton, you ready to go?" Tobias asked as he placed her on his shoulder and continued on his way.
