Sal and Goku entered the arena, and took their places at the bottom of the hill, the Chimchar mentally focusing himself for the race ahead.

Carefully scanning the area, Sal noticed that most of the trainers were already prepared. He turned to Goku to give him a last minute pep-talk.

"Ok, there may be a lot of tough competition here, but let's give it our best anyway and have fun with this. If any Pokémon gets too close to you, fire an Ember at them. Use another Ember to slow them down again if they get close. And remember, the main goal is to outrun them, not to out-fight them, so only attack when they get close to you," he said, trying to get the concept across, as the two had only competed in simple 1 vs. 1 battles so far.

Joshua stood alone amongst the sea of the competition, his eyes darting between the various Pokémon who were entered. His eyes narrowed at the sight of the two Fire types, both of which could prove quite a hassle for Yuki.

The little Ice type was currently sitting on his trainer's foot, causing said limb to go numb under the Snorunt's frosty influence. "Don't worry Yuki," Joshua spoke. "I have complete faith in you."

Crouching, Joshua leaned in to issue his orders. "Right little guy, this is gonna be a little different than we're used to. This is a race more so than a battle, so we have to make it up the hill first." The Snorunt nodded, understanding this.

"But, that's not to say we can't mess with our competition a little," Joshua said with a wink, and the Snorunt giggled evilly. "First thing to do is to scatter Spikes ahead of your opponent to slow them down. Then, if you're up against either of those Fire types, we need to go with a Double Team to protect you. Otherwise, you should just blow a Powder Snow at your opponent while they're navigating the spikes, the chill should slow 'em down some more. Got it Yuki?" The ice type took a few moments to process this, before nodding and dancing on the spot.

"Go kick butt, my friend."

Kin stared fixedly at the hill his Pokémon would have to climb before letting out a sigh. "Well, better you than me." He commented, turning to Dia, his chosen competitor. "Blitz up the hill with Spark, hitting whoever you happen to be matched up against on the way up. Then give them a Scratch attack as you continue running- the momentum should give you a bit of a power boost."

Gale eyed the hill as his other competitors did as he carefully studied it. He gave his partner, a Mudkip, a glance of confidence and then knelt down to whisper to his Mudkip.

"Alright" he started, "You see that hill? We're going to go up to the top of it as fast as we can." Gale said. "What I want you to do is Growl and anything you should meet and then Tackle them out of the way as you continue to sprint up the hill. Got it," he questioned.

The Mudkip responded with a glee-filed "Kip!" and Gale took his spot with his Mudkip at the starting line.

[Sep. 2010 Event] Revolution Scramble! - Page 2 Empty Re: [Sep. 2010 Event] Revolution Scramble!

Post by Gary Fri Sep 10, 2010 5:36 pm

The event starts out with a bang and all the contestants' Pokémon begin to race up the hill. As the Pokémon scramble about, they begin to bump into each other and execute the attacks planned by their trainers.

The first two Pokémon to clash are Will's Chili, the Cyndaquil, and Richard's Boulder, the Geodude. Chili starts things off with a fierce Growl, intimidating Boulder a little to slow down his first Tackle and lessen the impact. Chili then ignites and meets Boulder's second Tackle with a Flame Wheel, and the two attacks knock each other away equally, Flame Wheel being the stronger attack, but Boulder's natural resistances helped cushion the blow. Both Pokémon split up after an evenly matched skirmish.

Next to square off were Natsu's Takumi, the Mudkip, and Dave's A'Tuin, the Turtwig. Takumi starts off by darting around to create some Double Team clones, 3 to be exact, and A'Tuin lunges in for a Tackle, harmlessly destroying one of the clones. As Takumi kept running, he kicked up a Mud Slap with his hind feet, splashing A'Tuin in the face. A'Tuin then builds up a bunch of energy and prepares to execute his Revenge, but simply cannot seem to find his target. Takumi exits this round with the upper hand.

Meanwhile, Yougi's Gligar found himself face to face with Gale's Mudkip. Gligar started things off by kicking up a Sand Attack in the form of a cloud of dust. Mudkip Growled in retaliation, but it had little effect on the hidden Gligar. Gligar then swooped down, out of the dust, to Bite Mudkip, who took that opportunity to Tackle Gligar back into the ground. The two Pokémon parted ways having had an even matchup.

Up next were Marion's Nincada and Tobias's Swablu, Cotton. Nincada started the battle by Hardening her insect-like exoskeleton before Cotton could swoop in for a super effective Peck attack. As Cotton came in for a second Peck, Nincada struck back, attempting to Leech some Life away from Cotton. Overall, Nincada stood her ground fairly well from Cotton, but could not overcome the flying type's advantage.

Sal and his Chimchar, Goku, faced off against Joshua and his Snorunt, Yuki, next. Goku began with an Ember attack as Yuki scattered some Spikes further up the hill, hitting the ice type for good damage. As they kept running, Goku tripped over some of the Spikes, hurting his feet a little, while Yuki used the opportunity to use Double Team to create three clones of himself. Goku fired off a second Ember, but it simply disintegrated one of the clones. Overall, Goku still showed the upper hand in the matchup.

For the final matchup of the round, Kaito and his Pikachu, Nezumi, faced off against DM and his Mankey. Nezumi started off by Growling fiercely at Mankey, who came in for a Low Kick, buffering a bit of the damage which tripped the Pikachu. Mankey then Leered angrily at Nezumi as she got up, making her freeze up a little more before zapping Mankey with a light Thundershock. The two Pokémon exchanged about equal blows, but in the end, it was Mankey who had managed to cover more ground up the hill.

The odd Pokémon out, Kin's Dia, the Sentret, did not encounter any opponents and continued her way up the hill.

With the first round of battle-racing over, the point standings are as follows:
Gary: Takumi the Mudkip - 2
Kin: Dia the Sentret - 2
fw: Mankey the Mankey - 2
tbh: Cotton the Swablu - 2
Sala: Goku the Chimchar - 2
Copy: Chili the Cyndaquil - 1
Handy: Boulder the Geodude - 1
Yougi: Gligar the Gligar - 1
Mewz: Mudkip the Mudkip - 1
Dave: A'Tuin the Turtwig - 0
Josh: Yuki the Snorunt - 0
EK: Nincada the Nincada - 0
DTG: Nezumi the Pikachu - 0

And just like that, it's time for Round 2 to start! Time to order two more attacks, folks! Also note, if you decide to order any "if" commands, I will just take the first two attacks you list in your post, alright? =P You have until the end of Wednesday, September 15th to reply!

"Great work, Takumi!" Natsu called out. "Now, for the next round, let's hold 'em off with a Growl and then push them back down the hill with a Water Pulse!" Takumi nodded and prepared himself for the next round while he continued running.

{OOC: I call bias d:}

Dave gritted his teeth at his opponent's cheap tactics. "C'mon A'Tuin, you can do it! Withdraw against your next opponent's attack! Then steal some health with Absorb!" he knew his Pokémon could do better, and pull through in the race.

With Goku having overtaken his first opponent, Sal called out to his Chimchar in support. "Ok, now Growl at any opponent that comes close, and then use their fear to push them back with an Ember. You're doing great!" he said proudly, as he tried to keep up with the chimp.

Will bit his lip at Chili's unfavorable matchup, but cheered as Chili seemed to come out even. He issued his next orders as he chased Chili up the steep hill. "Okay Chili, double Flame Wheel on your next opponent before racing back up the hill!"

"Hmn, excellent work Mankey, now let's keep that going, and if it keeps working, then that's great. Leer whomever it is you face next to keep them still, then Low Kick them down the hill, that'll work just fine if you're quick about it."

DM calls to his victorious Mankey, after all it seemed that anyone could win, but Mankey was in the leading pack for now, as DM hopes that that will remain the same...

Kin blinked in surprise, somewhat amused that Dia had gone the round without any obstructions. Well... may as well try it again. he thought to himself, shrugging as he did so.

With things being quite balanced in the respect of Gligar and his opponent, Yougi began to wish that Gligar had access to a ranged attack so that he could strike them from afar without having to worry about getting hit in return. Still, he couldn't just focus on that. He had to give Gligar some orders for the next round and with all the other competitors going for full out offensives, he had to think carefully.

Whipping up a sand cloud had really helped with the balance last time and Yougi looked at that as the best opener as it would give Gligar a safer opportunity to strike while he was behind the cloud avoiding attacks.

The problem lay with the attacking part of his orders. Bite had done a decent amount of damage, but Gligar hadn't been able to move freely enough to get away from the coming blow. And the other moves Gligar had weren't as powerful as Bite was.

Still, as he called out to Gligar he hoped his moves would work better this time round.
"Gligar, things looked good from here." Yougi called out, "I want you to whip up another sand cloud like last time, when you meet an opponent and then dive at them with a Poison Sting attack."

"It's alright Yuki, you did your best," Joshua called to the dejected Snorunt. The trainer murmured bitterly inside his own head about cursed fire types, the rant itself turning into quite a spectacular piece of vocal literation, but the contents of which not being suitable for most viewers will be left unknown.

"Again Yuki, same strategy," Joshua called out after his brain returned to the real world. "Spikes, then Double Team. I have faith in you!" The last comment was met by a cough that sounded suspiciously like a scoff, something Joshua made a mental note to deal with later.

"Good job, keep it up!" he shouted to his Pokémon. "Give your opponent a taste of your Scratch, then Leech some more Life!"

OOC: Dammiiiiit. I'm lazy.

Richard smiles as he watches his partner progress, not seemingly falling too far behind for now. Due to the significant lack of moves avaliable to the rock and ground type, he didn't really have many options. As such, he decides that slow progress was better than no progress.

"Another Tackle, take someone down. And then Mud Sport. See if you can spray it in an opponents eyes to blind them. Good job buddy." Finished shouting, Richard eyes the rest of the race. Hopefully, this would work.

(OOC: Please take up any complaints with the creators of www.random.org =P)
(Also, I give you guys 5 days to reply, so unfortunately, the late penalty will be strictly enforced. Sorry, Handy)

As the contestants continue to race up the hill, they scramble about and happen to encounter each other. What takes place are the attack exchanges between the Pokémon as follows...

First up happens to be a rematch from the previous round, as Tobias' Swablu, Cotton, swoops down on Marion's Nincada for a Peck attack. Nincada quickly retaliates with a Scratch after taking slightly reduced damage thanks to a previous Harden attack. Cotton then comes back for a second Peck with similar results, and Nincada repeats with a Leech Life this time, recovering a slight portion of her health. Overall, Cotton retains the upper hand just like the round before.

Next up features a matchup between Yougi's Gligar and Joshua's Snorunt, Yuki. Gligar starts things off by whipping up a cloud of dust with a Sand Attack, but Yuki pays no attention, already busy spreading some Spikes. Unfortunately for Yuki, Gligar simply flies over them and swoops in tail-first for a Poison Sting while Yuki creates two more Double Team clones. The attack simply destroys one of them, leaving three remaining. Neither Pokémon was able to land a hit or gain an advantage on each other, however.

Kaito and his Pikachu, Nezumi, face off next against Will and his Cyndaquil, Chili. Nezumi starts things off with a sharp Bite, but Chili counters with a Flame Wheel, knocking Nezumi back. Nezumi then charges in for a Tackle, only to be met by a second Flame Wheel. Overall, Chili maintained the advantage over Nezumi.

Up next features a primate battle between Sal's Chimchar, Goku, and DM's Mankey. Goku starts off with a Growl which Mankey returns with a Leer, the two attacks offsetting each other. Mankey then rushes in for a Low Kick, tripping up Goku who hits Mankey with an Ember attack. In the end, neither Pokémon had the upper hand in the matchup.

The next matchup is a face off between Dave's Turtwig, A'Tuin and Kin's Sentret, Dia. Dia rushes in for a Spark attack, but the grass type Withdraws into his shell and resists the blows almost entirely. Dia then Scratches A'Tuin as he comes out of his shell, but the Turtwig retaliates with an Absorb, recovering some of the damage that Dia inflicted. A'Tuin left the skirmish as the victorious Pokémon.

The final matchup is an odd one as it features Richard's Geodude, Boulder, who doesn't receive any commands in time before the battle, and Gale's Mudkip, is ordered an attack that the Pokémon doesn't even know. As Mudkip finds a confused looking Boulder, Mudkip looks just as confused trying to use an attack he doesn't know how to do. However, Mudkip then uses Tackle, which he does know how to use, and somehow pushes the rock type backwards a little. In the end, because Geodude did nothing, Mudkip came out on top.

Natsu's Mudkip, Takumi, did not encounter any opponents during the round and kept running swiftly up the hill.

With the first round of battle-racing over, the point standings are as follows:
Gary: Takumi the Mudkip - 4
tbh: Cotton the Swablu - 4
fw: Mankey the Mankey - 3
Sala: Goku the Chimchar - 3
Copy: Chili the Cyndaquil - 3
Mewz: Mudkip the Mudkip - 3
Kin: Dia the Sentret - 2
Yougi: Gligar the Gligar - 2
Dave: A'Tuin the Turtwig - 2
Handy: Boulder the Geodude - 1
Josh: Yuki the Snorunt - 1
EK: Nincada the Nincada - 0
DTG: Nezumi the Pikachu - 0

And now it's time for round 3! Two more attacks please, folks. Also, remember that I'm giving you guys 5 days to reply, so don't forget to reply on time! The next deadline is by the end of Monday, September 20th.

Gligar made another even encounter again, while Yougi was wondering if his orders weren't exactly helping matters. He took a second to look at some of the more successful orderings within the group and deciding that he needed a change of pace, took a gamble with his next set of orders.

"Gligar, we're going to mix things up a bit now." He called out to his Pokémon. "I want you to get in there with a solid Bite and follow it with a Poison sting to force yourself off you opponent."
