Route 30: Deja Vu Empty Route 30: Deja Vu

Post by Kindrindra Sat Aug 07, 2010 7:02 pm

As Kin stepped into Route 30, he let out a sigh of relief. It was much more comfortable to be out here in the wild with just his Pokémon than
in the town with other people. Sure, there weren't too many in Cherrygrove... but still. Speaking of Pokémon... Kin thought as he released his new Pokémon from it's PokéBall. He looked over the small Sentret as it scratched it's ear and looked
around. "What shall we name you...?" Kin pondered as he pulled out his
PokéDex. "According to this, you're a female... Hmm..." Kin mumbled as
he racked his brains. Well... she is brown. As Kin was a moment from settling on the rather mundane name of 'Brownie' he was struck with a sudden recall of his capture of her. Grinning, Kin decided on the perfect name. "Your name will be... Dia. When Olive battled you, your defense curl was impenetrable- like Diamond, so to speak. Taking the tilt of Dia's head to mean she liked the name, Kin recalled her and set out down the familiar path.

Setting out onto Route 30 again, Kin was accompanied this time by his newly caught Sentret. In order to get better acquainted with her, Kin gave the Sentret the name Dia. Route 30 looked a lot like it did before, but now that it was completely night time, the forest was much darker. It made things a little spookier, but Kin kept his Pokémon close and continued down the path. After a short while of walking, Kin came to a stop to take a short break. It was only then that he noticed that there were all sorts of spider webs around him on the trees. Watching as one in particular began to shake, a Spinarak crawled out to stare at the trainer intently.

After waving a clingy web out of his face, Kin noticed the Spinarak. Well, this is a good opportunity to test out Dia's skills. Kin thought as he prepared for battle. "Dia, let's start this out on the offensive- Double Scratch attack!" Kin commanded, perhaps just a tad too confident after so many straight wins.

Wanting to test out Dia's skills in battle, Kin called upon his newly captured Sentret to face off against the Spinarak. Dia starts things off by running in for a Scratch attack, but is greatly slowed down by Spinarak's String Shot, tangling Dia up a little. By the time she gets to Spinarak and Scratches it, Spinarak quickly counters with a Poison Sting. Unfortunately, Dia looks a little upset as it appears the attack was effective enough to Poison her. Dia retaliates by Scratching Spinarak back for good damage. Spinarak took more damage this round, by Dia starts things off with string all over her and a poison to make things worse.

Kin winced as his PokéDex screen flashed purple, indicating poison. Realizing his mistake, he pointed the device at his opponent. "Spinarak, the Spit String Pokémon" The 'dex recited, "It lies still in the same pose for days in it's web, waiting for unsuspecting prey to wander close. It spins a web using fine--but durable--thread. It then waits patiently for prey to be trapped". Listening to the 'dex, Kin winces at how the situation could of been avoided if he had checked earlier. Well, let's see if we can't get out of this. Kin thought to himself as he gave his orders. "Dia, start with Defense Curl, but spin as you do it to try and get the web off. Then slam them with a firm Scratch!"

Fearing for his Pokémon, Kin called for Dia to take drastic measures to free herself. However, Defense Curl is no Rapid Spin and Dia simply curled up into a ball, which actually did a good job of defending against Spinarak's Poison Sting. Still covered in string, Dia managed to roll and dodge Spinarak's next String Shot attack and come in for a Scratch. Spinarak recieved more damage this round, but Dia is still as tangled as ever and the poison isn't helping. Spinarak rears up and looks like it is about to fire off another String Shot.

Well, that didn't go so well. Kin thought. "Err... Dia, just let them launch it at you. Can't really tangle you up if you aren't moving. Then Scratch through your bindings and, if you can, Spinarak. Then just Scratch them some more." As Kin observed, he winced at the fact that the tide of the battle seemed to be sliding away from him.

Post by Gary Thu Aug 12, 2010 11:20 am

Deciding to calmly bide his time, Kin called for Dia to forcefully free herself from the webbing once Spinarak was done, who fired off another String Shot at Dia. Dia then took her time to Scratch her way out of the string, making sure it was all off, but that left her open for a Poison Sting attack, stinging a little in her poisoned wound. Now that Spinarak was the one done attacking, Dia took this opportunity to Scratch the spider as hard as she could, dealing good damage. Dia has her mobility back and dealt more damage than received this round, but is still hurting from that poison. Both Pokémon are starting to breathe a little heavier now.

Feeling bad for Dia, Kin quickly ordered for his Sentret to try to finish off the Spinarak as quickly as possible. Dia nodded and charged in at Spinarak, Scratching it very hard, while the spider countered with another Poison Sting. Dia went in for a second Scratch, dealing even more damage, while the Spinarak continued to exchange blows, hitting Dia with another Poison Sting. To finish off the all offense round, Dia used one more Scratch on Spinarak, leaving it quite battered. Dia is breathing quite heavily now, having used a lot of energy and is suffering even more from the poison. It doesn't look like either Pokémon will last much longer, what will Kin do?

In a last-ditch effort to win the battle, Kin called for Dia to go all out for the finish. Sensing Kin's urgency, Dia summoned the rest of her strength and quickly went in for a Scratch on Spinarak, getting a clean hit. Spinarak countered with a Poison Sting to continue the exchange of blows, but one more Scratch from Dia was all that it could take, and collapsed, with swirls in its eyes. Dia breathed very heavily a sigh of relief, having now won the battle. Dia has leveled up! Kin now had the opportunity to capture the Spinarak if he wished. Looking ahead, Kin could spot the familiar fork in the road that he had passed before. The path to the right went to Mr. Pokémon's house, so maybe the left path went toward Violet City.

Kin sighed in relief as the battle came to a close. Well, that was a close one. Impressed with the Spinarak's tenacious skills, he lobbed a PokéBall towards it. Looking forwards, he decided that he should continue down the left path. After all, despite Dia's condition, I have two- hopefully three- Pokémon to protect me. Besides, I'm well stocked enough to continue on until I get to Violet... I hope.

Tossing a PokéBall at the defeated Spinarak, a red laser sucked it up as the ball fell to the ground and shook once... twice... and three times before coming to a halt with a "ding!" sound. Congratulations, you've captured a lv.4 female Spinarak with the moves Poison Sting and String Shot! Pocketing his two Pokémon, Kin decided to continue down the path where he would go left at the fork in the road. After a short while of walking, Kin could hear a shout in the distance screaming, "TOP PERCENTAGEEEEEEEEE!" It didn't take him long to find out who was behind the screaming, as a little boy ran up to Kin shortly after. "My Rattata is the best in the WORLD! He called out. It's in the very TOP percentage! I am Joey, Top Percentage of Rattata trainers! We must duel so I can show you how incredible my Rattata is!" He tossed a PokéBall, revealing a Rattata, who looked around confused.

Momentarily stunned by Joey's loud boasting, Kin simply stared on as he rambled. Top percentage of Rattata trainers? What does he mean by that? In the top 25%? Top 10%? Top 5%?! This could be dangerous.
Thinking over his options, Kin realized he really only had one.
Returning Dia with a sigh, Kin sent out Olive. "Well, Olive, let's see
how we stand against one of the top rattata trainers. Double Razor
Leaf!"
As Kin watched the scene play out, he thought some more. I never knew a person could be so loud. I thought only Pokémon could go up to that volume...

A little confused by the top percentage Rattata trainer, Kin decided to go with Olive to make short work of this supposedly powerful Rattata. Rattata started things off by darting in for a Quick Attack, but could barely reach Olive as a flurry of Razor Leaves was sent its way. Rattata managed to hit Olive, but not without getting pretty scratched up. Rattata then charged in for a Tackle, but like before, took the brunt of Olive's second Razor Leaf before reaching its target. Olive took a little bit of damage, while Rattata took a bit more. "Dodge their attack and then go in for a Quick Attack!" Joey called out.

Deciding to go on the defensive this time, Kin ordered his attacks and Olive nodded quickly. Rattata waited to dodge an attack that never came, while Olive growled fiercely. Rattata hesitantly began to charge in for a Quick Attack while Olive Growled a second time, making it somewhat nervous to attack. It bumped into Olive for light damage before retreating back to its trainer's side. Neither Pokémon took much damage nor used up much energy this round.

Content with his strategy because it provided both a great offense and defense, Kin ordered Olive to keep up her Razor Leaf attacks. As Rattata zoomed in for a Quick Attack once again, Olive blasted it with a flurry of Razor Leaves, scratching it up before it could ram into her. Rattata then sank its teeth into Olive for a Super Fang, making the Chikorita cry out in pain. Olive retaliated with another Razor Leaf, this one at point-blank range. Both Pokémon took quite a bit of damage this round, about equal damage as well as they both start to breathe much heavier. "Double Tackles!" Joey called out to Rattata.

Post by Gary Wed Aug 18, 2010 12:30 pm

Seeing as Kin was pretty comfortable with his strategy that has really helped him this battle, he called it out to Olive once more in hopes of finishing the Rattata off for good. Olive started things off with a Razor Leaf as Rattata charged in, getting a few good blows on it before she was knocked back by Tackle. As the Rattata came around for a second attack, Olive repeated herself by firing another round of Razor Leaves at it before being knocked back again by Tackle. To finish Rattata off, Olive fired off one last wave of Razor Leaf, which finally did the job, knocking Rattata out cold. "You're heartless! My poor TOP PERCENTAGE Rattata!" The little boy Joey threw down 300 PokéDollars and ran off with Rattata in his arms. Olive smiled happily as she panted very heavily, quite exhausted now. Level up for Olive!

As Kin looked around, he could spot a clearing up ahead which would surely lead to Route 31. Or he could spend more time to look around Route 30 if he wished. Either way, he was interrupted by a quick shaking coming from his egg.

Looking ahead, Kin decided to head on to route 31. I don't want my Pokémon to have to be in any more battles than necessary- They're already tired. He thought as he made his choice. As he set out, he noticed a frenzied shaking coming from the egg he was carrying. Curious, he set it on the ground to watch what was happening.

Seeing as his egg began to shake a bit, Kin excitedly set it down on the grass, quite curious to find out what it was. The dark egg continued to wiggle, while instead of glowing with brightness, it sort of let off a dark aura to it. Soon enough, the egg hatched, revealing the figure of a black, wispy creature that looked up at Kin and then to its surroundings. Congratulations, you've hatched a lv.1 male Shuppet with the moves Knock Off and Egg Move Imprison!

Deciding that it was best to keep moving on toward Violet City, Kin gathered up his new Pokémon and headed toward Route 31. [advance]
