Route 29 Get! Will Kronis

Will looked at the PokéBall in his hands. His very first Pokémon. This is gonna be great. "Cyndaquil, come out!" Will tossed the PokéBall into the air and it released the fire Pokémon in a red light. Will pocketed the PokéBall. "Hi there. I'm Will, your new owner. We're gonna go run an errand for Professor Elm, then we'll really be on our adventure. Okay?" Cyndaquil nodded. "Cyn!" Will laughed and petted Cyndaquil on the head. "Alright, let's go." Will and Cyndaquil started off down the rough path.

Setting out on their brand new Pokémon journey, Will sent out his new Cyndaquil in order for the two of them to get acquainted better. They were making good progress on traveling through Route 29 without bumping into anything but taking in the scenery of wide open plains and rolling hills until they came across another person in the path. He had dark black hair with bangs that came across part of his face, and he had a yellow hat on with a pair of goggles fastened around the hat. "Hi there!" he waved, hurrying over to Will. "I'm glad I caught you! You must be a new trainer, right? My name is Ethan and I'm a new trainer too! Wanna be rivals?"

Ethan then looked down at your Cyndaquil and smirked. "Aw, shoot, you have the type advantage over me. Oh well, wanna battle anyway? I have confidence in my battling abilities!" He then sent out his Chikorita, who swished her big leaf around. "Chika!" she chanted merrily. It's time for your first battle! What would you like to do?

Soon after the start of his journey Will was greeted by another new trainer. He had dark, black hair with bangs that came down upon part of his face, and slightly lame yellow goggles, though Will didn't comment on that. Ethan, the name of the trainer, wanted to battle. "A battle?" Awesome! "Sure, uh, Ethan, I'd be happy to battle. What about you, Cyndaquil?" Will's question was greeted by a cheerful "Cynda!" Will smiled, and looked up at Ethan. "Alright then, let's start! Cyndaquil, uh... Tackle then Smokescreen!"

(Maybe I should have clarified, but starters are lv.5 and in the HGSS pokedex, Cyndaquil learns Smokescreen at lv.6 =P Sorry)

Eager to get his first battle underway, Will calls upon his new Cyndaquil, who was excited for its first battle as well. Ethan smiled as he watched the Cyndaquil and then called out to his Chikorita. "Let's show them what we've got, Chikorita! Tackle and then Growl!" Chikorita nodded and whirled her leaf around to pump herself up for battle. "Chika!"

The two Pokémon faced off as both trainers had given their commands. Cyndaquil looked a little confused from the second half of Will's orders, but sprung into action regardless. Both Pokémon charged each other, but Cyndaquil being the faster Pokémon got the first hit, Tackling Chikorita to the ground. Chikorita let out a "Rita!" in shock, but she soon enough got up and retaliated with her own Tackle, knocking Cyndaquil back. Cyndaquil then opened his mouth, expecting something, but nothing came of it. To finish off the round, Chikorita let out a Growl, which made Cyndaquil shake a little. Both Pokémon still seemed pretty fresh as the battle has just begun. "Alright Chikorita, let's go for another Tackle, followed by another Growl!" Ethan commanded.

Will bit his lip. Cyndaquil didn't know Smokescreen yet. They were both still evenly matched, however. "Sorry Cyndaquil! Fine then, Leer and Tackle!"

Trying to not let his mistake get him down, Will quickly regained his composure and came up with a strategy for the next round of battle, announcing it to his Cyndaquil. Now that both Pokémon were ready to battle, they squared off once again.

Chikorita started things off by charging in for another Tackle, but was slowed down quite a bit when her eyes met Cyndaquil's glaring Leer. She continued her charge, knocking into Cyndaquil, but the fire mouse was quick to recover, ramming into Chikorita for his own Tackle which sent the leafy Pokémon rolling across the ground. Getting back to her feet, the Chikorita ended the round with another sharp Growl. Both Pokémon are still looking pretty healthy, but each are exchanging blows. However, Cyndaquil is looking a little better off in the health department. Ethan waited to see what Will would do next.

Will cheered. "Alright Cyndaquil, great job! Two Tackles, and then... can you use Bite? Yeah, let's go go go!"

((Sorry for my short battle posts but there really isn't much to say except orders. Also, he has a mouth with teeth, so...))

Eager to go on the offensive, Will carefully watched his Cyndaquil's condition and then issues out orders, while Cyndaquil listened. Also listening was ethan, who quickly called out to his Chikorita, "Alright Chikorita, let's Growl fiercely to scare them off, and then counter with a Tackle!" Chikorita nodded and both Pokémon prepared for the next round of battle.

Cyndaquil started off the round charging at Chikorita, who belted out a loud Growl. It was just enough to startle Cyndaquil enough to slow it down. Cyndaquil rammed into Chikorita for a Tackle, but it did a lot less damage due to the less force behind the attack. Cyndaquil then regrouped and went in for another Tackle, colliding head on with a Tackle from Chikorita as well. Both Pokémon fall backwards, but as they each get up, Cyndaquil goes in for one more attack, biting the Chikorita, who winces.

Both Pokémon took some big hits this round, but Chikorita took much more as it starts panting a good amount. Cyndaquil is starting to breathe a little heavier but is looking better off than Chikorita. However, Cyndaquil used up quite a bit more energy. "Alright Chikorita, go in for two Tackles!" Ethan called out.

Because Ethan was now going on the offensive, Will decided that it was best to save some energy and go on the defensive. He quickly shouted out his orders, and the battle continued.

Chikorita started off by charging at Cyndaquil, who let out a loud Growl. This was enough to make Chikorita stumble in her step, which took out a lot of the power from her first attack, but still rammed into Cyndaquil nonetheless. She then went in for a second Tackle so Cyndaquil attempted to Growl once again, but it had much less of an impact on Chikorita, who slammed into Cyndaquil at full force, sending the fire mouse backwards. Because Chikorita went on the offensive this round, it used more energy than Cyndaquil, making them about even now. Chikorita took no damage this turn and so while Cyndaquil took some damage, they are looking more even in health now as well. Both Pokémon are starting to breathe pretty heavily now, and we could see this battle come to a close soon.

Seeing the signs that this battle could be coming to a close, Will ordered Cyndaquil to go back on the offensive. He faced off once again against Chikorita, who was looking just as ready to get going. Ethan quickly called out his orders as well, and the battle continued.

Cyndaquil and Chikorita faced off one more time, and the tension broke with Cyndaquil charging in for a Tackle. Chikorita was knocked back a few feet, but she got up and countered with a Tackle of her own, knocking Cyndaquil back. Both Pokémon were breathing heavily as they stared each other down before charging in one more time. Chikorita hit Cyndaquil with a Tackle, but Cyndaquil quickly Bit Chikorita in the back, who let out a yelp in pain. Chikorita slumped over, defeated. Ethan frowned, returning Chikorita to her PokéBall. "That was a great battle, Chikorita. You deserve a rest." He then stuck out a hand for Will to shake. "That was a great battle to you too, rival!" He smiled. "We definitely have to fight again some time! Until then, I'll see you down the road!" With that, he turned around and walked off.

Cyndaquil was looking pretty beat up now, but he was the victor. He let out a loud cough, a puff of black smoke coming out of his mouth in the process. Level up for Cyndaquil! Cyndaquil has learned the attack Smokescreen! With not much else left to do, Will continued on down the path with Cyndaquil and made his way to Cherrygrove City.
