Route 29: Kin's return Empty Route 29: Kin's return

Post by Kindrindra Mon Jul 26, 2010 1:21 pm

Kin walked back out into the grassy route he had first stepped onto in order to run an errand for Elm. As he wandered through the route, he thought about the first time he had been here. That Ethan guy was my first battle... I wonder if I'll run into him again during my journey. Next time, I WILL have the advantage. He thought as he smiled to himself. As he walked through the route, he wondered what other Pokémon he would see on his journey...

Route 29: Kin's return Empty Re: Route 29: Kin's return

Back out on Route 29 with Olive once again, Kin looked around only to notice that the scenery was quite different from before. The sun was quickly setting, leaving the sky orange and purple, while shadows were steadily growing across the land. The trees shook back and forth with the gentle summer breeze. As Kin looked around the route in hopes of finding a wild Pokémon, it was becoming difficult because this was the time of day where Pokémon were either just going to bed or just waking up.

However, after a short while of walking, Kin noticed a silhouette on a hill before him. It's a lone Sentret standing up on its tail looking a little lost.

Noting the small brown shape on the hill, Kin curiously pulled out his PokéDex; "Sentret, the Scout Pokémon. A very cautious Pokémon, it raises itself up using its tail to get a better view of its surroundings. It stands on its tail so it can see a long way. If it spots an enemy, it cries loudly to warn its kind".

Grinning at the chance to finally get the upper hand, Kin prepared for battle. But just as he was about to order Olive to unleash Razor Leaf, he noticed the Sentret's expression. Feeling a bit of pity, Kin climbed up the hill. "Err... Hi there, little guy. You hungry?" He asked, offering a Oran Berry to the little Pokémon.

Almost deciding to attack the Sentret, Kin decides to approach it in a friendlier way instead. But, like Kin's PokéDex said, as he approached the Sentret, it quickly spotted him and began to scurry away quite cautiously. It watched Kin intently as he pulled out an Oran Berry and slowly crept a little closer. Seeing Kin's good intentions, Sentret looked up at him with big, scared eyes before standing back up on its tail to look around the area intently. Its ears dropped a little as it couldn't find any of its comrades and didn't see any familiar territory. Turning back to Kin, the Sentret quickly got into battle stance as it tried to convey that it would battle Kin to see if it could join him on his journey.

Kin grinned as he got ready for what he hoped would be a fun battle. "Olive, get ready! Double Razor Leaf, but watch out for it's tail. It looks rather big." He ordered, noting the characteristics of his opponent.

Accepting Sentret's challenge, Kin eagerly called upon Olive to battle, who shook her leaf around, ready to fight. Kin orders her to go on the offensive right off the bat, still eager to test out Olive's new attack. Olive nodded and shook her leaf again, firing off some Razor Leaves at Sentret, who quickly pulled its tail around it to go into a Defensive Curl. Olive fired off a second Razor Leaf attack, which also grazed Sentret, and once the attack finished, Sentret went in for a Scratch on Olive, knocking her back. Both Pokémon took similar damage this round, but Olive used up slightly more energy. Sentret looks at Olive, ready to use another Scratch attack.

Well, it can use it's tail for defense. I'll have to keep that in mind. "Olive, dodge, then quickly follow up with Razor Leaf!"

Deciding to play it safe, Kin ordered Olive to go defensive and then strike on the counter attack. As the Sentret came in for a Scratch attack, Olive nimbly leaped backwards, swishing her leaf to fire off a Razor Leaf attack at Sentret, who was wide open. Sentret yelped as it was knocked to the ground, but it quickly got back up and went in for another Scratch, getting Olive right across the chest. Sentret took more damage this round, leaving Olive with a slightly larger lead in the gap now.

"Hey, it worked!" Kin exclaimed, mildly surprised. "Let's keep up the offensive, Olive. Razor Leaf again. But if they curl up like earlier... sit on them. If they don't then do it again."

Route 29: Kin's return Empty Re: Route 29: Kin's return

Changing gears, Kin decided to go on the offensive this time and ordered Olive to keep up the Razor Leaves. Sentret waited for Olive to make her move, and as the Chikorita fired off her first wave of Razor Leaf, the surprisingly nimble Sentret used its tail to bounce out of the way of the attack. When it landed, however, it was open target for Olive's second wave of Razor Leaf, striking it for good damage. Sentret then got back up and went in for a Scratch on Olive, knocking her back. Once again, Sentret took more damage than Olive, but Olive used more energy. Both Pokémon are starting to breathe a little heavier now, but Sentret is visibly worse off. It begins to go into a Defensive Curl to start the next round.

Noting Olive's quickened breathing, Kin decided it would be good to end this as soon as possible. Hmm... I can't do very much damage to them when they curl up like that... but maybe I can use it against them.
"Olive, use their curling to your advantage- Tackle them into a tree like... I dunno, a living soccer ball. Hopefully that'll stun them long enough for you to pull off another Razor Leaf!"

Route 29: Kin's return Empty Re: Route 29: Kin's return

Post by Gary Fri Aug 06, 2010 8:13 am

Seeing the state of both Pokémon, Kin decided that it was time to wrap things up, so he called for Olive to go on the offensive. Sentret started things off by going into a Defensive Curl, and Olive quickly took advantage of the opportunity by running around to the right angle and rammed into Sentret with a hard enough Tackle to send it rolling into a tree. The Sentret uncurled and began to charge at Olive, but the Chikorita was already one step ahead, firing off a Razor Leaf at it, dealing good damage. It finished things off with a Scratch to Olive. The Sentret is huffing and puffing now, and it won't take much to knock it out now.

"Olive, let's finish this!" Kin called, rather confident in his chances now. "One more Razor Leaf to end it. If they're still standing, give them another one!"

Seeing that the end of the battle was near, Kin called for Olive to continue on the offensive and quickly finish the Sentret off. The Chikorita obliged and fired off a Razor Leaf at the Sentret, dealing good damage to it. The Sentret, still breathing heavily, could not hold out any more and fall backwards with swirls in its eyes. With Sentret defeated, Kin had the opportunity to capture it if he wished. Ahead of him, there were two paths available for Kin, one toward the guardhouse that leads to Route 46, and one that leads toward Cherrygrove City.

Smiling at his success, as well as the little Sentret's determination, Kin tossed a PokéBall towards it, watching as the little brown critter was sucked into the sphere. Looking ahead, Kin decided to take the same path as before- On to Cherrygrove!

Wanting to befriend the fallen Sentret, Kin pulled out a PokéBall from his bag and tossed it at the critter, the ball sucking it up with a red laser. The ball fell to the ground and shook once... twice... and three times before it came to a complete stop and made a "ding!" sound. Congratulations, you've captured a lv.5 female Sentret with the moves Scratch, Foresight, and Defense Curl!

Satisfied with his new capture, Kin gathered his things and headed down the path towards Cherrygrove City with Olive in tow. [advance]
