Nikky smiled as she marched out of Viridian City. She was happy with just her Pokémon healed and PokéMart items in possession. She didnt need any fancy attractions or special quests to keep her occupied. Plus, she could always just do them when she came back for her 8th badge, right?

Right.

Nikky looked around at the route. The grass...the trees...the Pokémon..."This is just like Route 1!" Nikky cheered with very fake enthusiasm. She started walking down the route, replaying what she had just did and said. She was weird that way, for she was evaluating her words. Did her voice crack a bit? Was her enthusiasm too realistic sounding? Did her pose for Route 1 seem a little gay?

...Speaking of Route 1. She had a Farfetch'd to name and stuff.

The blonde unclipped both of her PokéBalls and looked at them. Getting her Pokémon out was still such a challenge for her. "Um, open sesame?" She called as she tossed the PokéBalls once more.

A flash of light blinded the girl momentarily; she blinked and then saw her two Pokémon standing before her. She broke into a large smile and struck a heroic pointing pose. "Farfecth'd! I dont like that name! Is Jax alright? Cause I think you look like a Jax! Like Apple Jacks except with an X!"

The bird type cheered at Nikky, seeming happy with his new name. He then turned and spoke to Taryn, who just nodded with a smile in response.

Happy that Jax was happy (and Taryn seemed to be in a good mood too), Nikky decided to was time to start the Route. She then started marching once more, yelling to her Pokémon, "C'mon! We have tons of ground to cover!"

It's a bright day ahead as Nikky moves on down Route 2. As she had noted, it's incredibly similar to the last area, albeit with a huge Forest sprawling ahead. By her side are Taryn and the newly-named Jax, seemingly getting along despite their competetive start. But that's how all Pokémon friendships start, right?

Though they're not quite out of the city just yet, passing some houses on the outskirts. As they do so, they hear a noise near one of the houses, like something getting knocked over. Rushing round to investigate, the trio finds a group of Rattata, having knocked over a trash can, scavenging litter from within. The majority of the group spot intruders, and flee into the woods, but one is a little slower. Mostly cos its head is stuck in the trash can. As it backs out to see where its friend went, it is met with the sight of two Pokémon and one trainer, looking at it.

The Rattata decides it's not too keen on this, and crouches to the ground, baring its formidable incisors. Looks like Nikky has another battle on her hands, but what will she do now?

Nikky was humming to herself when she heard a noise from one of the houses, after seeing to what it was, it was just a group of Rattata. Upon seeing Nikky, they all dispersed except one, who had his head in the trash can.

Nikky laughed to herself, seeing as it had bared it teeth at her. "Aww, that's a cute Rattata! He's all angry and defensive and everything!"

Taryn and Jax looked at the blonde. Taryn just sighed and Jax seemed mildly confused. How is an enemy cute? He might hurt them. Or worse. He might become one of them.

Nikky pulled out her PokéDex to examine the Pokémon. "Rattata, the Mouse Pokémon. Because of their large incisors, Rattata's must chew on objects to keep them at a manageable length."

The blonde nodded, putting away her PokéDex. "Alright, Jax. We're gonna get this awesome thing!"

Jax shrugged and stepped towards the Rattata. He was up for another battle. He was healed after all. He then shot Nikky a thumbs up and a smile. ...Or whatever you can do with wings, a leek, and a beak.

Pleased with his enthusiasm, Nikky ordered, "Start off with Sand Attack, then use Peck!"

Pleased to enter his first battle, Jax assumes a battle-stance, brandishing his leek toward the wild rodent. Follwing orders, he swipes his free wing to the ground, a Sand-Attack flaring up, with debris flying through the air toward the little purple rat. However, before trainer and Pokémon realise what's happening, there's a blur of movement, followed by the Rattata speeding straight through the dust with barely a blink, slamming into the Farfetch'd on the other side thanks to a Quick Attack. Stumbling back, Jax retalliates by lunging forward with his beak, Pecking at the Normal-type. Squeaking a bit, Rattata counters with a Tail Whip, his long tail smacking Jax across the face.

Both exchanged blows there, with Jax taking slightly more damage, while Rattata used a bit more energy. Both a fighting-fit and raring to go.

Trying to press his advantage, Rattata starts lunging forward, looking for a chance to Tackle his foe. But what will Nikky order Jax to do in reply?

Nikky gawked at the speed the speed of the Rattata. "OH MY [s]GOD[/s] MEW HE'S SO AWESOME."

The blonde then danced around a bit, singing to herself about catching this Rattata. If you live under a rock and cant tell how a human being feels, let me tell you; She was ecstatic.

As she refocused on the battle, she saw the Rattata was taking charge. Nikky quickly ordered, "Dodge then use Poison Jab!"

Rattata lunges forth for a Tackle, but Jax deftly dodges the attack, leaving the rodent to slam into the ground. Getting up angrily, the Normal-type squeaks in pain once more as the Farfetch'd's leek Jabs into him with Poisonous energies, sending him reeling backward, though he escapes poisoning. Getting back to his feet, the Rattata blasts in with another Quick Attack, knocking Jax back a bit as he closes the gap.

Rattata came off worse in terms of health there, narrowing the gap. Energy use was simliar, both starting to pant a little.

The Rattata eyes Jax warily, wondering what he'll use next.

Nikky smiled, happy her attack went as planned. Though the poison didnt get the Rattata. Oh well, there's always next time. Too bad next time wasnt now.

Nikky cleared her throat then called, "Use Leer and then Fury Cutter!

Hearing his opponent's moves, the Rattata moves for another Tackle, but finds himself frozen in place by Jax' vicious Leer. Fearful as to what the duck has planned, the rodent can't even move, before the Farfetch'd's leek swipes across him, Jax going into a Fury Cutter, dealing a good amount of damage in the process. Out of his funk, Rattata then proceeds to Tackle the Flying-type good and hard, knocking him back a bit.

Rattata took another big hit there, pushing his health further below his foe's. Jax used a bit more energy, however, and he's starting to breathe more heavily.

In such close-quarters, the Rattata tries to press an advantage, spinning around for a Tail Whip. What will Nikky order in response?

As the fighting went along, Nikky took out another PokéBall from her belt. She rolled it between her fingers as she had done before with her encounter with Jax. She was contemplating again when to use it.

As she saw the fighting has ceased, Nikky smiled at the damage that the Rattata has taken. Maybe after this next attack...

The blonde blinked, seeing a Tail Whip starting to come forth. Nikky thought for a second, then ordered, "Use another Leer! Then Poison Jab again!"

Jax quickly attempts another Leer, but the fact that Rattata has his back to him meant that the eye-contact was lost, before the rodent's Tail Whips across the Farfetch'd's face. Smirking in an a mousey way, Rattata goes in for another Tackle, slamming into the bird, but Jax' leek glows purple, and he performs another Poison Jab. Rattata shakes off the blow, but then shudders a bit. It seems that the last attack left its mark, and he's now poisoned nicely. That should wear him down.

Jax took slightly more damage, but it still a ways above his foe. Rattata used more energy there, and the gap is narrowed on that front, both Pokémon panting a bit.

Shuddering again from the poison coursing through his veins, Rattata waits to see what Jax will do next...

Nikky smiled. He was nicely poisoned and seemed to be fairly injured. And worn out. After this next attack, she's definitely catching the Rattata. Then he'll be happy and not have to eat out of trashcans all the time.

"Use Peck!" She ordered quickly.

Jax smirks, charging in, his beak coated in that glow of a Peck, which hits Rattata dead-on, causing him to reel back, shuddering again from the poison, even as he goes for another Quick Attack, blasting in to strike the Farfetch'd right back.

However, as the rodent prepares to attack once more, he finds himself hit by an outside source; Nikky's PokéBall hits him square-on, converting him into energy and pulling him into the sphere, which starts to wobble... before DING!ing nicely, securing the Pokémon within.

Nikky has captured a Level 4 Male Rattata! He knows the moves: Tackle, Tail Whip and Quick Attack!

Level Up for Jax!

The group relaxes slightly, having added another member. With Jax and her new Rattata both fairly exhausted, what will Nikky do now?

Nikky watched the battle commence, happy that Jax had landed a hit though unhappy about the Rattata getting Jax right back. But she did see an opening as he launched another attack. Therefore, she threw the ball, and hoped it would hit him.

Lucky for her, it did. Also, she caught the Rattata!

Nikky sighed in relief. This was that bad, afterall. She didnt completely suck like her teacher said!

Nikky fished out two Oran Berries from her bag, giving one to Jax as she threw the PokéBall in the air, "Umm...Bow chicka bow wow?"

It worked. Like the previous times. And out came a tired looking Rattata. Nikky beamed and tossed an Oran Berry at him. "Hey, buddy! Eat this!"

The blonde trainer proceeded to check her PokéDex about the Rattata. He has a Bold nature and the ability Guts. She also looked through other random info as he ate his Oran Berry.

She then paused and smiled like crazy at the Rattata, "I just thought of the perfect name for you! Wanna hear it? It's Axel! You like?"

The Rattata just blinked as his new trainer kept her gaze at him. If anyone had to guess, he was probably regretting to fight instead of flight. But then again, he had Guts as his ability and not Run Away.

So he shrugged, seeming content with his name. Nikky jumped up and down with excitement, "Awesome! Oh yea, this-" She picked up Taryn, who was all but forgotten until this point, "Is Taryn! She's awesome, isnt she? Oh, and that's Jax!"

Before Axel could even absord all of this information, Nikky had placed Taryn on her head and was marching down Route 2 once again. Jax laughed and mimicked her, maching right behind. Axel shrugged once more and followed suit, causing a nice army. Which somehow reminded the observing Taryn of marching ants.

As Nikky and her band of followers make their way along the Route, the newly-caught Axel seems a bit weirded out by the whole experience. Though, both he and Jax are grateful for the Oran Berries Nikky had given them, feeling a lot better off.

As the group walk on, the trees ahead seem to be getting thicker, Viridian Forest looming in front of them, though it'll be a while until they get inside. But it means that they're taken somewhat by surprise as a kid jumps out in front of them, brandishing a PokéBall in his hand.

"Haha! Your Pokémon look strong, but they're no match for mine! C'mon Pidgey, let's do this!" he shouts, and with a flash of light, a small, avian Pokémon emerges, fluffing up its feathers as it prepares to battle, chirping as it and its trainer eye Nikky.

Well, looks like the group just can't get a break. What will Nikky do now?

Nikky was having a nice time overall. She had a new Pokémon, and was humming a marching theme outloud (which sounded strangely like something from a Pokémon video game soundtrack). As she saw the forest come into veiw, the blonde trainer was relieved. Taryn was too, for she had sighed from atop her head.

Suddenly, some kid jumped in her way and was asking for a battle. Nikky sighed. He looked way too cocky. Especially with a Pidgey. Did he only have a Pidgey? She shook her head and set Taryn down.

"I guess I have no choice, Captain Impatient." Nikky then smirked and focused on the battle. "Go ahead, Taryn! Use Growl then Scratch!"

"Cool, a Nidoran! She looks strong, but don't think we're gonna go easy on you! Go Pidgey, Sand-attack! Then hit her with a Tackle!"

Taryn starts with the tried-and-tested tactic of Growling her new foe. Pidgey seems to be slightly affected, but it doesn't stop him flapping his wings, kicking up a Sand-attack, which blows dust and debris into the Poison-type's eyes. Shaking her head at the irritation, Taryn is left wide open as Pidgey Tackles her hard. However, this force shakes the sand out of the Nidoran's eyes, and she Scratches the bird right back, leaving the two up-close.

Pidgey used more energy there, but the two took about equal damage, Taryn slightly more. Both are still raring to go, however.

"Great job, Pidgey! Now go for something simple - two Tackles, let's bring some pain!"

Happy that Taryn was being complimented, Nikky was smirking throughout the battle. Though it didnt please her much that the Pidgey had landed a Tackle and Sand Attack. But the Scratch made it, so it wasnt all that bad.

Upon hearing the kid's orders (she had to ask him for name or she wouldnt remember at all), Nikky thought to herself then ordered, "Dodge then try to Bite it!"

She then took out her PokéDex and scanned the Pidgey. "Pidgey, the Tiny Bird Pokémon. Pidgey's size makes it able to hide in tall grass while it forages for insects."

Diving in, Pidgey goes for a Tackle, but Taryn manages to nimbly dodge the attack, leaving the bird to slam into the ground. While he's getting himself together, he chirps in pain as the Nidoran's teeth land on his wing, Biteng into his feathers. Shaking off the blow, Pidgey manages to get himself together for another Tackle, this time landing the blow, knocking the Poison-type back a bit.

Taryn took a bit more damage there, but energy use was about similar, both starting to pant a bit.

The kid now hangs back, waiting for Nikky to issue her next orders, before remembering something. "Oh yeah, by the way, my name's Keiran. Sorry, was in such a rush I forgot to introduce myself." he said, chuckling a bit.

Nikky pocketed her PokéDex. Keiran. Keiran. Not a bad name. She actually used to babysit a kid named Keiran. They played with Pokémon action figures alot of the time.

Seeing how the battle was turning out, Nikky frowned. She wish she used Jax, or at elast that her Pokémon had a movepool as large as his was.

"Use another Growl then Scratch!" Nikky ordered swiftly.

"Sand-attack and Tackle once more! Originality's for chumps!" Keiran called, as the two Pokémon readied for another clash.

Taryn let out a Growl, which causes Pidgey to hesitate slightly, the Sand-attack following being reduced quite a bit. Some sand still gets in the Nidoran's eyes, but a follow-up Tackle from the avian helps clear her vision, and she launches a Scratch right back, her claws raking Pidgey's body, causing him to chirp in discomfort.

More damage, pushing Taryn a fair ways below her opponent, but it's not insurmountable. Pidgey used more energy, and is starting to breathe a bit more heavily.

"Alright! Now let's go for more repetition! Double Tackle!" calls Keiran. What will Nikky order in response?

Nikky bit her lower lip. She didnt like how Taryn was looking at all. She wanted to throw an Oran Berry to her starter, but Keiran had already issued orders and the Pidgey was coming after her.

Hopefully Taryn will make it this turn so an Oran Berry can be used.

"Dodge it! Then try to Bite again!" Nikky called to her Nidoran.

Pidgey dives in again for another Tackle, but Taryn manages to sidestep the attack, causing Pidgey to ram into the dirt once more, chirping in pain. He then finds the Nidoran latched onto his wing, a vicious Bite denting his health reserves. His feathers ruffled, Pidgey goes for another Tackle, ramming Taryn for a good hit, though he seems very worn out by now.

The health's about even now, but Pidgey's looking very tired, a lot moreso than Taryn.

Keiran seems a bit concerned, but waits to see what Nikky will order next, this matchup seems to be coming to a close.

The blonde smirked, it seemed like things were turning out for the better. But she shouldnt get cocky or too hopeful. Anything could really happen in a battle. At least that's what she learned from the battles she's seen on TV and the internet...

Nikky fished out an Oran Berry from her bag and threw it to Taryn, "Dude, eat this quick! Then use Scratch!"

"Aw, c'mon! Right, Sand-attack, then Tackle!" Kieran orders, slightly annoyed at his opponent healing.

Taryn looked up, catching the fruit in her mouth and scoffing it down, restoring her vitality. Feeling refreshed, she then squeaked in discomfort as Pidgey kicked up another Sand-attack, irritating the Nidoran's sensitive eyes once more. Shaking her head around, she's open to the bird's Tackle, which sends her reeling, but she's looking fine now.

While Taryn took a strong hit, she's now healed, and is far above her foe in both health and energy, while Pidgey's breating is becoming ragged.

"Right, let's bring this down! Double Tackle, let's go!" orders Kieran, seeming to resort to desperate tactics in light of this twist. What will Nikky order in reply?

Nikky was happy that the Oran berry was taking effect, for the Sand Attack and Tackle didnt seem to be that horrible and hurting her anymore. The blonde smiled at the thought of this until she saw the Pidgey was attacking.

"Dodge him, then use another Bite!" Nikky ordered immediatly.
