Yougirasu - On the road again. Route 36 (E)

Having had everyone healed up in the Pokémon Centre, Yougi was determined to go out and find someone new for his team. He knew other trainers that he'd passed and seen battling had at least 5 Pokémon with them, whether or not it was worth the decent effort of levelling all the Pokémon was yet to be seen. But Yougi had heard rumours regarding certain Pokémon just outside the city.

He'd travelled through the scenic city, passing the trainers school, Sprout Tower and the local Gym to reach route 36, where he planned on starting his search for new Pokémon. The thick trees in the route made everything feel slightly more confined than the previous routes and Yougi did wonder why the bugs chose more open areas when there'd be less chance of a wild Pokémon attacking them here.

As he was slowly working his way through the route, he was musing over his party Pokémon. He'd collected 3 Pokémon as well as his Togepi and while most were doing well there was one Pokémon he was quite unsure of.
'Ledyba, ledyba, ledyba.' Yougi was thinking to himself. You're looking to be something that's going to be a pain to train.
He continued walking down the route, thinking over how long it would take for Ledyba to get it's next offensive move and how many more it would get in general. He couldn't quite decide what to do with it. Perhaps someone would be interested in a trade down the line.

Regardless of his thinkings, he was doing his best to watch his steps while he was on the road again.

Walking down the new road, with the sun overhead, Yougi was taking in his new settings. The majority of the route had opened out into a large clearing instead of remaining as thick trees that hindered the path somewhat.

Ahead, where the open space was cut down to a single pathway with the dense trees surrounding it once more, Yougi could see a couple of people getting into a commotion.

He wondered what they could be getting into with the route being fairly quiet except for them and fully intended on going over to see what all the fuss was about. Before he could move though, there were loud cawings from above his head.

He was surprised to see a Spearow swooping down towards him. He stumbled backwards to try and avoid the agitated Pokémon that seemed to be annoyed just by Yougi's presence on the route. And, assuming that the Spearow was highly territorial, Yougi didn't blame it for it's aggressiveness. That wasn't going to stop him from getting experience for his Pokémon though.

Pulling a PokéBall from his waist, Yougi knew exactly who to bring out to face the Spearow. And as tips of blue and red emerged from the light he created by opening the PokéBall, he called out, "Come on out Magnemite."
The young Pokémon joined the field and expecting a battle from the Spearow, Yougi called out his orders with a little thought.
"Magnemite, open with a Metal Sound to shake up the little flying Pokémon and then charge in with a tackle." Yougi had a little thought and added, "Try and put a little forward spin on it when you strike as well." He remembered watching the types of shows where directionality of spin were discussed (that weren't snooker) and he hoped that this would give the tackle a little change to sway the battle in Yougi's favour from the get go.

Mag made a great start to it's second battle. He'd managed to cause the opposing Spearow to miss with it's peck attack while Mangemite generated it's metal sound to irritate everyone, even Yougi.

He stopped for a minute to wonder if the sound itself could be so irritating that it would aggravate nearby wild Pokémon into jumping in. He just hoped there weren't any stressed out Growlithes near by.

As Yougi was off in his wonderland, Mag charged in with a tackling attack with Yougi's extra spin idea. However, as he was drawing close, the Spearow began to growl in a deep, intimidating fashion. Magnemite's nievity clearly got the better of it and it slowed down as it charged in, lessening the impact and damage caused.

Yougi snapped back into the action as Magnemite slammed into it's foe and wished it had an electric typed move at it's disposal.
'But that's what the training is for, to earn it an electric typed move. And to experiment with new ways to attack.' He chuckled a little at the last part of his thought, wanting to come up with new, imaginative ways to tackle Pokémon. Especially if he could manage to surprise a Gym leader with it.

But as Spearow was getting itself ready to charge in with a pecking based attack, he had to give some orders and not get lost in his thoughts. Although it was a big place, so it was quite difficult. Still, he had to dole out some orders and he planned to go offensive.

"Magnemite, let's get ready for this." He called out. "It looks like it's going to come in and peck you, so just let it and then respond with a slamming tackle. Then give it a second one for good measure." Yougi hoped that the positive description he gave to Mag's tackle was convincing enough to help it endure the attack it was about to take.

As the events concluded, Yougi had to hope that the effects of the Spearows leering attack wouldn't leave Magnemite to vulnerable.

Mag had started off well, listening to the orders well and enduring the first blow before striking back with it's own tackle. It was as Magnemite was preparing the second tackle that the opposing Spearow had begun to leer. The helped it in two ways, it slowed down the impact of the tackle resulting in less damage being dealt and it made Magnemite more vulnerable to physical blows.

Still, Yougi was intent on keeping Magnemite in the battle to gain experience. And dealing with such stat drops was something the resilient little steel type would have to get used to, with it being the only way to inflict significant damage through it's solid body.

With orders needed for Magnemite, Yougi's mind buzzed for a second. Unsure of what would be best, he decided to just go offensive again.
"Magnemite, stay strong. I want you to get on in there with another two tackles and we'll re-evaluate things after that."

Yougi was beginning to wonder if he was working Magnemite's energy well. When Magnemite was going in for tackles, it often found itself on the receiving end of a Growl or a Leer that was causing the damage inflicted to slip resulting in it rapidly tiring while not dishing out a decent amount of damage. Still, Spearow is taking more damage than Magnemite but with the battle dragging out, Yougi was having bad feelings about being in the one spot for such a length of time and with Spearow calling out so much with growls.

The rustling trees as the wind picked up in the area didn't help him much with his bad vibe and although he would have liked to give Magnemite an easier round, he wanted to get done fast. If his vibe was right and some of that rustling was some more Spearows that were even more territorial or at least equally then Yougi, Mag and the rest of the party were in for a rough ride. Still, with no real idea as to what would happen, Yougi wanted to get Magnemite through this battle and allow it to gain some experience before anything else happens.

He really did want Magnemite to take it easy, but his bad feelings made him a little more reckless and pushed him towards ordering a more intense round in hopes of getting things over quicker.

"Mag," He called out over the rustling leaves. "I want you to open up with a Metal Sound to distract it and then hit it with two more Tackles. Hopefully, you'll get some good openings and not have to endure any growls or such."
He really hoped that the end was in sight as with such volatile Pokémon in the route, anything could really happen.
