Route 31: The continuing route Empty Route 31: The continuing route

Post by Kindrindra Fri Aug 20, 2010 3:35 am

After furious blinking to get the afterimage of the egg hatching out of his eyes, Kin began to look curiously at his new Pokémon, pulling out his PokéDex, curious to find out about it. As he pointed it at Shuppet, the 'dex began to recite. "It uses its horn to feed on envy and malice, or so it's said. It's very active at night."

Looking back towards his new Pokémon's flowing shape, he realized that it was one of the rare ghost types. He remembered a girl with a Misdreavus (A very cute Misdreavus, at that) living somewhere near to his house, but that was mostly it. Staring intensely at the small Puppet Pokémon, he smiled as he came up with a name. "I'll name you... Aether."

Looking to the road ahead, he noticed a cave. On the other hand, he also saw the famous Sprout Tower from a distance. Letting himself a small smile as he recalled the trainers that had been reminded of it by the rocking of the boats, he set off towards it, knowing that his Pokémon weren't very likely to keep battling forever- he'd have to get them to a PokeCenter soon.

Route 31 was a little more scenic than the previous route, opening up with a large clearing as Kin and his new Pokémon entered. Before him lie the Dark Cave, a cave so dark that it's nearly impossible to see beyond your own nose. Next to the cave was a small pond that glistened in the moonlight. Looking in the other direction, Kin could spot the towering spire that was the famous Sprout Tower in Violet City off in the distance.

As he looked around some more, Kin began to hear some incessant hooting coming from behind him. Turning around to see what it was, Kin found a Hoothoot perched on a tree branch staring down at him. It tilted its entire body to stare at him curiously from a different angle.

Kin took in the small brown and beige Pokémon, pulling out his PokéDex; "Hoothoot, the Owl Pokémon. It always stands on one foot. It changes feet so fast, the movement can rarely be seen. It has a perfect sense of time. Whatever happens, it keeps rhythm by precisely tilting its head in time."

Kin smiled as he saw a chance to test out his newest recruit. "Aether, get ready to battle!" He cried as he sent the small Puppet Pokémon into battle. "Okay, Aether I know this is your first battle, but give it your all! Double Knock Off attack!"

Wanting to test out his newly hatched Pokémon, Kin sent out Aether the Shuppet and ordered him to go on the offensive. To start the battle off, Hoothoot immediately began by using its Foresight to fire a soft red laser from its eyes in order to identify the ghost type. This left the owl wide open for Aether's Knock Off attack, which knocked it off its branch. Landing on the ground, Hoothoot Growled as Aether approached for a second Knock Off, weakening his attack. Hoothoot has taken a little bit of damage while Aether has taken none to start off this battle.

Kin thought carefully as the Hoothoot identified Aether. Then he remembered that Knock Off wasn't the only move Aether could use. "Aether, Tackle, thee Imprison him!"

Attempting to test out Aether's repertoire, Kin calls for his Shuppet to try some of his other known attacks against Hoothoot. Having clearly identified the ghost-type, Hoothoot meets Aether's Tackle with its own Tackle, knocking the lighter Aether back a little. Aether then attempted to Imprison Hoothoot's Tackling movements, but that attack appeared to be too hard to limit, and Hoothoot finished off the round with an intimidating Growl. Aether took slightly more damage and used a little more energy than Hoothoot this round.

Kin winced as he realized the round hadn't gone exactly as he hoped. "Aether, knock them off their feet with Knock Off, then hit them with a strong Tackle while they're down!"

Deciding to go on the offensive, Kin called for Aether to keep attacking the Hoothoot. As Aether came in for a Knock Off attack, Hoothoot Growled loudly again, slowing the Shuppet down a little to minimize the damage taken. Hoothoot then collided with Aether's Tackle with its own Tackle to knock both Pokémon back. Overall, Hoothoot took slightly more damage than Aether this round while both Pokémon begin to breathe a little heavier. Hoothoot prepares itself for another Tackle attack.

Kin called for Aether to go on the counter attack as he read the Hoothoot's movements. As the Hoothoot came in for a Tackle attack, Aether quickly floated out of the way. He then spun around and Tackled into Hoothoot who's back was exposed, pinning it to the ground. Hoothoot Growled loudly in order to get Aether to get off of it. Hoothoot took a bit of damage this round while Aether took none, and both Pokémon used up about the same amount of energy. Hoothoot is starting to breathe even heavier now.

About to order Aether to strike again, Kin caught himself. Hmm... I don't want to tire Aether out too much just yet... Better end this quickly. He thought to himself as he pulled a empty PokéBall from his bag, flinging it at the Hoothoot with all his strength.

Not wanting to put Aether through any more damage for now, Kin quickly pulled out an empty PokéBall and tossed it at the Hoothoot. The ball sucked the owl up with a red laser and fell to the ground and wiggled once... twice... and three times before coming to a halt with a "ding!" sound. Congratulations, you've captured a lv.5 male Hoothoot with the moves Tackle, Growl, and Foresight! Aether smiled happily as his first battle was now over. Level up for Aether!

With a new Pokémon in the ranks, Kin began to look around. He could venture into the Dark Cave if he wished, or he could simply proceed on his way to Violet City.

Kin spared a quick glance at the entrance to the nearby cave before quickly hurrying off in the other direction, towards Violet City. Maybe later... he thought to himself as he walked, before stopping suddenly. Quickly, he sent out his newest Pokémon, who promptly had a Oran berry tossed into their mouth. As the Hoothoot proceeded to gag, Kin stared at the little Owl, trying to come up with a name. As the little guy finally managed to swallow, they looked up back into Kin's gaze. As Kin stared into his newest Pokémon's eyes, he felt himself starting to drift off, a repetitive sound playing in the back of his mind. Eventually snapping out of his revere, Kin had a suddenly realization.

"Your name will be... TikTok." He decided firmly. As TikTok happened to chirp at this moment, Kin took the name to be accepted, recalling his new Pokémon into it's PokéBall. He then called out his Sentret, Dia. Hmm... I guess it's about time I used that TM I got on the boat trip... He thought to himself as he pulled out a yellow disk, sliding it into the corresponding slot on his PokéDex (after searching for it for a while). Booting up the program, he jumped a bit as the PokéDex started asking him questions.

"Do you want to run the program- 'TM Spark'?" it asked him, the electronic voice accompanied by words on the screen. Cautiously pressing the confirmation button, he had another shock (literally) as the 'dex started sparking, the sparks merging into a beam that focused on Dia, who curiously looked towards the source of the light. As this happened, the electronic encyclopedia spoke up once more. "Teach Dia Spark?" it asked. Pressing the confirmation button, Kin watched as the light suddenly brightened, causing Dia to glow in response and leaving an afterimage in Kin's eyes after it faded. "Tutoring complete" the PokéDex confirmed as the corrupted (and useless) disk popped out. Surreptitiously, Kin slipped it into his bag, hoping to add it to his collection. Putting the disk and Dex away, Kin returned Dia to her PokéBall.

After doing so, he tossed Aether another Oran Berry. "Be ready, who knows what we may run into." He told his Shuppet as they walked on.

(Generally I will be the one who updates if the TM works or not :P I know I already told you before it would work, but still, it's my job xd)

Deciding to keep going toward Violet City, Kin took a moment to heal his new Hoothoot and his Shuppet with Oran Berries. He then called out Dia the Sentret, wanting to teach her a new move with a TM he had received in an event. He slid the TM into his PokéDex, and as the machine started up, it pointed a yellow laser at Dia as she began to glow and spark with electrical energy a little. The device stopped after a few moments as Dia returned to normal, smiling that she learned a new attack. Dia can now use the move Spark!

With all of that settled, Kin resumed his journey, heading through the forest to Violet City. Soon enough, the guardhouse leading to the city was in sight, but he was promptly stopped by a young boy in bug catching attire. "Hey, you there! My name's Wade. Wanna battle?" He smiled innocently and sent out his Caterpie.

(Oh, sorry 'bout that. :O)

Somewhat startled be the appearance of another trainer, Kin quickly regained his composure, accepting Wade's challenge. "Well, you seem a lot calmer than another trainer I met earlier" he told Wade, smiling. "Aether, let's go! Knock him Off his feet, then go in for a Tackle attack!" he commanded.

Taking on Wade's challenge, Kin wanted to exploit a pretty large advantage with Aether's typing against Caterpie. Aether started off the battle by Knocking Caterpie Off its feet, sending it backwards. Caterpie got up and attempted to Tackle Aether, but the bug passed right through the ghost's body. Aether turned around and then Tackled Caterpie back with more force. Caterpie finished off the round by spraying a String Shot all over Aether's face. Caterpie took a bit of damage while Aether received none. "Two more String Shots!" Wade called out.

Kin's mouth dropped open as his opponent passed right through Aether. He had heard of this kind of thing happening... but seeing it himself was something else entirely. "Aether, roll out of the way of the first string shot, then come in to Knock them Off their feet, then Tackle them again!"

Trying to take advantage of Aether's typing against Caterpie, Kin calls out his next strategy. Caterpie fires off a String Shot, but Aether dodges it by rolling as he floats and then rushed in to Knock the Caterpie Off. Caterpie is knocked backward, but it quickly gets up and sprays a second String Shot at Aether, getting it all over the Shuppet's face. Temporarily blinded, Aether attempts to Tackle his target, but can't seem to find Caterpie. Aether is still way ahead in the health department, but used up a bit more energy this round and now has string impairing his vision.

Watching his Pokémon become blinded by the Caterpie's String Shot, Kin called for Aether to try and shake it off. While Aether attempted to do so, Caterpie pulled on the other end of the string, whipping Aether around until he slammed into a tree. This managed to shake the string off of Aether's face, but the Shuppet was pretty shaken up as well. Aether went in for a dizzy Tackle, but the Caterpie quickly dodged out of the way. Aether took a bit of damage this round while Caterpie took none, but at least Aether can see again. "Two String Shots again!" Wade called out.

After expressing concern for his Pokémon, Kin quickly collected himself and came up with his next strategy, calling it out to Aether. Caterpie started off the next round with a String Shot, but the Shuppet dodged in time, hovering upwards a bit. Caterpie then fired off a second String Shot, attaching to Aether's lower part of his ghostly form, but the Shuppet didn't care as he dropped into a free-fall. Aether rammed the Caterpie for a hard Tackle, knocking Caterpie back a good distance. Caterpie is breathing pretty heavily now, but still has a hold of the string attached to Aether.

Kin smiled at his plans workings, and prepared to follow up and secure himself the lead. "Aether, give him...." Suddenly Kin realized that the Caterpie still had a hold of the string attached to Aether. he started to panic, before he realized something. He may have a hold on me... but I have a hold on him, too! With his realization, Kin called out his orders; "Aether, Tackle as hard to the side as you can- the string should bring you right into Caterpie, as well as wrap him up a little. Then slam him with one more tackle, or two if necessary!"

Sensing weakness in the Caterpie, Kin ordered Aether to take advantage of it and finish the bug off with a pair of Tackles. Using the String Shot as a reel, Aether pulled Caterpie in and Tackled it hard, knocking the bug back. Caterpie helplessly tried to Tackle Aether, but in vain. Aether then came in from another angle, Tackling the bug again, causing it to collapse. Level up for Aether! Recalling Caterpie back to its ball, Wade pulled out another. "You did great, Caterpie. It's your turn now, Weedle!" He tossed the PokéBall, sending out his Weedle. "Poison Sting then String Shot!" he called out. Will Kin switch Pokémon or keep going?

Kin's mouth dropped as his opponent sent out another Pokémon. And it's another bug. Perfect... kinda.

After hearing Wade's orders, Kin had to think quickly Well, Aether resists poison sting... but he wouldn't like being poisoned. Guess.. I'll just have to risk it.

Taking a rather risky angle, Kin makes his orders. "Aether, go straight in to Knock him Off his feet, even if it means you have to take the Poison Sting. Then take advantage of the close qarters to give him a swift Tackle!
