Caterpie Calamity

"Hey Vudu, what do you think of our first mission so far?" the Torchic asked her ghostly friend as they entered Dark Woods.

"I dunno Embers," replied the Misdreavus. "I like this place though. It certainly lives up to its name. How the heck did a Caterpie end up in here anyway?"

"Pssh whatever. As long as we get our reward."

As the new team began their trek to save the lost Caterpie, the forest seemed to watch them, filtering out most sunlight with its large, shadowy leaves. After walking for a while, they found themselves in a particularly dark section of the forest. With their vision impaired, they could barely see trees until they were right in front of them. Soon, Embers spotted a small glimmer of light, much like a coin, further up.

When she ran over to grab it, she realized it was a Meowth, and the shining part was the coin on its head. She could not stop her momentum, however, and crashed into the poor fellow. The Meowth jumped up, furious.

"Thieves!" he shouted, quite angry. "Everyone knows this is my territory! Get out!" he viciously lunged forward, ready to Scratch Embers.

(Oops! Sorry. 2 oran and 1 pecha berry!)

"Aah! Jeez I'm so sorry it was just so shiny and- wah!" Embers as she tried to orient herself. When she saw that the Meowth began to attack, she called out to Vudu.

"Vudu, a little help here!" said Embers as she felt her body heat up for a fire spin and ember.

Vudu rolled her eyes. "Finally, some action. That's what you get for not looking before you leaped." Vudu's eyes then started to glow, ready to unleash a psywave and a power gem if the meowth got too close.

((Remember, PMD Pokémon start at level 5 and have only the moves they carry at that time!))

Embers tries to use some fire attacks, but her body just isn't experienced enough to summon that kind of heat, leaving her wide open to the Meowth's Scratch attack. Vudu strikes the Meowth with a small psychic blast for slightly less than average damage. Angrily, Meowth retaliates by trying to Scratch Vudu, though he simply passes through her gaseous body. Vudu tries to summon a Power Gem in return, but having not learned the move yet she only creates a small sparkle of rock energy that dissipates almost immediately.

Embers took a good hit, used no energy. Vudu used up decent energy, but took no damage. Meowth got hit by a slightly underpowered Psywave and used up considerable energy. Everyone is still fresh and kicking, however.

OOOOooooOOOOHHHH!!! That's how you figure out the moves! Sorry, didn't know that!

"Crud! No fire for now," said Embers. "Let's just Scratch this out." She charged toward the Meowth, who had just missed hitting Vudu with its own attack.

"Yeah, no-go on the power gem," muttered Vudu. "Lemme just Psywave again."

Realizing their mistakes, the duo attempt to make up for lost time. Embers dives in, flailing her talons and Scratching up Meowth. Vudu follows up by releasing another Psywave at the white cat, this one more powerful than normal, which slams into Meowth. Hissing at Vudu, Meowth dives into her with glowing black fangs bared. The Bite simply passes through her body, but the Dark-typed energy involved in the attack deals a supereffective hit to her. Meowth ends by diving toward Embers as well, using the same Bite attack to deal a nice hit.

Embers' health is just below 3/4s. Used some energy. Vudu also took a nice hit, but is still fine. Energy is nearing 3/4s. Meowth took hits from both contestants, at nearly at 3/4s. Energy was quite high, just below 3/4s, and he's a bit tired.

*Squeal* YAYNESS YOU DID IT YOU'RE THE BEST!!! Anyways...

"Okay, Embers, the voice said he's almost at 3/4s health, so you should--" said Vudu before she got interrupted by her Torchic friend.

"Yeah, yeah, I got it already-- wait, how do you know he's almost at 3/4s health?! And what voice are you talking about?!" Embers said with a skeptical look on her face.

"Oh, you're so silly! I can break the fourth wall, remember?" Vudu gave her a wink as she began chanting a pair of Psywaves again.

"Fourth wall my butt..." Embers readied a Growl before she unleashed another Scratch, easily doing it due to her frustration from the Meowth and her ghostly friend.
