The Rulebook Empty The Rulebook

Welcome all, to Pokémon Revolution, where all of your roleplaying needs shall be satisfied! Now, before you go run off to roleplay all over the world of Pokémon, there are a few rules you should understand. They are pretty basic, but if they are breached, there will be consequences. You've been warned!

1.) No godmodding please. Leave the specifics up to your updator. You control no Pokémon but your own, but even then, that doesn't mean you control how successful your Pokémon's attacks are.

2.) When roleplaying please try to refer to your character in the 3rd-person tense. It just makes things simpler and easier for the updators. Also, at least 4 lines of text should be the minimum for a reply. Updators put effort into their work, and so should you.

3.) While roleplaying in-battle, please use 2 attacks per Pokémon. You may use 1 or 3 attacks, but please do so sparingly; if you use 1 attack, the battle will go slowly, and if you use 3, your Pokémon may get more tired or disobey you. Dodging is also accepted as a move, but constant use will tire out your Pokémon.

4.) When in battle, if you would like to use an item, you may not issue any other orders or attacks in that turn. Essentially your Pokémon becomes a sitting duck while they rest, so use your items carefully.

5.) Revolution is progressed by clearing routes. In order to get onto the next route, your updator will update you until they feel you are ready to move on, when they will let you know.
- You do not need to post an adventure in any city/town unless there are quests or events there. Simply use whichever shops or gym you would like before moving on to the next route.

6.) The four major Pokémon regions are available for adventure in Revolution. Initially, you may only start off in one, and you may not leave that region until you have completed it. Later on there may be inter-region trains and boats.

7.) Starter Pokémon begin at lv.5. In order to level up your Pokémon, experience must be gained in battle, and your updator will notify you when your Pokémon levels up. Please use the Heart Gold/Soul Silver move list for Pokémon's' attacks. When you have newly captured a Pokémon, your updator will tell you its gender and level.

8.) Please keep an updated list of your current party Pokémon in your signature. You are responsible for your own team, so if it isn’t updated, your updator cannot update you properly.

9.) Upon obtaining your 7th Pokémon, it will automatically be sent to your PC Box. Your PC Box may only be accessed in Pokémon Centers if you wish to switch out Pokémon.

10.) Egg Moves may only be obtained from breeding Pokémon, event Pokémon Eggs, or through Move Tutors. Please see the Daycare locations for specific instructions. Move Tutor moves may be learned only at special Move Tutor locations. Please see the Move Tutor locations for specific instructions.

11.) If you complete a region, which means beating all 8 gyms as well as the Elite Four, and wish to adventure in a different region, you have two options:
a.) You may keep your current squad of Pokémon and challenge the gym leaders of the new region with advanced squads.
b.) You may leave your entire team with the Professor of your primary region and start anew. You will not lose your Pokémon but you will not have access to them until you return to that region. You will get a new starter in the new region.
- When going to your 3rd or 4th regions, you do not have to constantly restart or keep your team. The choice is yours every time you advance to a new region.
- If you choose to not restart in a region, you have the ability to move freely between regions by using the harbors of each region. However, you may not restart another region until you beat another set of 8 gyms and corresponding Elite Four.

12.) When traveling through routes, any Pokémon natural to the environment may appear, specific to that region. Thus, any grassland Pokémon will appear in a grassy route and any mountainous Pokémon will appear in a mountain path. However, each region is dominated by Pokémon specific to that generation. Finding other-region Pokémon are very rare occurrences.

13.) Certain Pokémon can only be found during a specific time of day which will progress as you go through your adventure. However, if you wish to change the time of day to switch from day to night or night to morning, you are permitted to "sleep it off" in the Pokémon Center. Simply state that you wish to do so in any Pokémon Center thread.

14.) Inter-region trading is forbidden until you have obtained your 4th badge. Please see the Union Room for specific instructions.

15.) Constant battling will obviously tire out your Pokémon. While keeping your Pokémon in its Pokéball will rest it a little, the best way to heal your Pokémon is in a Pokémon Center, which are in nearly every town.

16.) Double-adventures are prohibited due to the amount of difficulty and effort they require to update. However, there are quite a few campaign and Free-Roleplay areas set up so you can still roleplay for fun with your friends.

17.) Any attack can be a TM. When teaching TMs to your Pokémon, please use discretion on whether or not your Pokémon is capable of using that move. (ex. Feebas with Thunder and Cubone with Steel Wing are frowned upon) All Pokémon are capable of using the moves Tackle, Growl, Tail Whip, and Bite if they have such appendages that allow them to use such moves.

18.) Every Pokémon has a special ability that can help them in battle or on the field. When you obtain a new Pokémon, if that particular species has more than one ability, you are allowed to choose which one you want. Pokémon are only allowed to have one ability each, and you may not change abilities if you change your mind later on.

19.) Here are also a few notes regarding Pokémon evolution:
  • Once a Pokémon has met its requirements in order to evolve, your updator will alert you upon their next level-up.
  • In order to evolve your Pokémon, if the right conditions have been met and an updator/mod confirms that they are able to evolve, simply state your desire to evolve them in whichever adventure or thread you may be in, and the updator will complete the evolution for you.
  • Once a Pokémon evolves, they will automatically know any attack at their level or below that their pre-evolution might not know (Ex. Houndoom with Thunder Fang).
  • If the evolved Pokémon's pre-evolved form learns any attacks at future level-ups that it does not (Ex. Shroomish learns Spore at lv.45 whereas Breloom learns Dynamicpunch at lv.45), the evolved form will be able to learn those moves when available at a move tutor.

Just added a few guidelines involving Pokémon evolution, in order to straighten things out.

Just a reminder that this is still very much so a rule. I know ASB is real popular with most of you guys, but this is a roleplay website first-most, so ordering attacks in battle goes a little differently here. Ever since the start, I've been pretty lenient with reply lengths here, but lately I've been noticing the replies in battles getting shorter and shorter. I'm not going to strictly enforce a 4-line rule, but I feel like it is an important guideline to follow. Our updators here put in a lot of effort to update everyone, so they should be returned the same kind of effort in your replies. It's not really that hard to do. :P
